Comprehensive
Eye Examinations

A thorough, unhurried assessment of your vision and eye health — covering everything from visual acuity to retinal health. Suitable for all ages, and recommended at least once a year.

What Is a Comprehensive Eye Examination?

A comprehensive eye examination is far more than a simple vision check. It is a complete clinical assessment of both your visual function and the health of your eyes — conducted by an experienced optometrist using modern diagnostic instruments.

Your eyes can reveal early signs of systemic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, and neurological changes, which is why a thorough examination is an important part of your overall health routine. Early detection of conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts significantly improves treatment outcomes.

At Georgia Kapareliotis Optometrists, examinations are conducted with care and attention, ensuring you receive a clear explanation of your results and any recommendations that follow.

1

Case History

Discussion of your vision concerns, general health, family history, and current medications.

2

Visual Acuity Testing

Assessment of how clearly you see at distance and near, using standard eye charts.

3

Refraction

Determining your optimal prescription for glasses or contact lenses.

4

Eye Pressure (Tonometry)

Measuring intraocular pressure to screen for glaucoma risk.

5

Anterior Segment Assessment

Examination of the cornea, lens, and front structures of the eye.

6

Retinal Examination

Assessment of the optic nerve, macula, and retinal blood vessels using ophthalmoscopy.

Who Should Have a Comprehensive Eye Examination?

👀

Adults (18–60)

Annual examinations are recommended even if you experience no symptoms — many eye conditions develop silently without noticeable vision changes.

🧓

Adults Over 60

Risk of cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma increases with age. Regular monitoring is essential for preserving long-term vision.

💻

Screen Users

If you work on screens for extended hours, symptoms such as eye strain, headaches, and blurred vision warrant a comprehensive assessment.

A thorough examination typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. We do not rush consultations — you'll have adequate time to ask questions and discuss your results fully.

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us via WhatsApp or phone. We do, however, coordinate with your GP or specialist where clinically appropriate.
How often should I have my eyes examined?
